Sexual Health

Well-meant advice fails to ease the pain during sex.

A few years ago, you filled out a medical questionnaire at your primary care provider’s office. You indicated on the form that you had some physical pain during intercourse. Your doctor said a little pain was common and to try and relax beforehand.

Since then, you brought up the topic of sexual pain with some friends to see if any of them had the same experiences, but no one had. One friend said, “ust have a glass of wine!”

Despite the advice, glasses of wine and simply relaxing are not helping, but the feeling of shame is growing.

You feel like it is your fault that you and your partner have intimacy difficulties.

Find the right help rather than suffer in silence.

Pain during sex is more common than you think, and there is help. But not every provider or therapist is familiar with the ins and outs of these kinds of sexual concerns!

Most therapists and medical providers at best get an entire semester-long course on matters surrounding sexual health, and at worst, get one class!

Generally, there is a lack of accurate sexual health information out there. The silence around the topic isn’t any help as situations like the one above go underground for years because no one has said that even though pain is common, it is not something you must endure or get used to having.

When it comes to your sexual health, which is so connected to intimacy (with self and others), you deserve better!
